Five-star guard Trevor Keels has committed to the Duke Blue Devils, he announced Friday. The Kentucky Wildcats, Villanova Wildcats and Virginia Cavaliers were among his other finalists.
A 6-5, 210-pound recruit out of Paul VI Catholic High School in Virginia, Keels is ranked 16th overall by 247 Sports, 19th by ESPN, and 20th by Rivals. All three services list him as a shooting guard.
Keels had previously narrowed his final list of schools down to Duke, Virginia and Villanova, but a late scholarship offer from Kentucky got them on the final list as well. Other schools who offered include Florida, North Carolina, Michigan, Louisville and Ohio State.
Despite getting an offer from John Calipari, Kentucky was never seen as a major player for Keels, as Duke and Villanova got all of the buzz leading up to his announcement.
Kentucky will now look to continue scour the transfer market in search of more backcourt help for next season while also preparing to face Keels and Duke in the 2021 Champions Classic.
