Could Washington be an option to run the point for UK next season?

The Kentucky Wildcats’ disaster of a 2020-21 season could in many ways be attributed to poor play from the point guard position.

With the position still a question mark heading into the 2021-2022 season, Kentucky has extended an offer to four-star point guard TyTy Washington, who may be could fill that void for John Calipari and company next season.

Washington is ranked as the fourth-best point guard in the nation for 2021 and the 31st overall player per 247 Sports. In addition to Kentucky, Washington also scored an offer from the national champion Baylor Bears today.

The Arizona native had been committed to Creighton but decommitted from the Bluejays on March 11. Washington also holds offers from Kansas, Arizona State, Auburn, Creighton, LSU, New Mexico, Ole Miss, Santa Barbara, San Diego State, USC, and Washington State, among others.

So far, Kentucky’s depth at point guard next season includes incoming four-star signee Nolan Hickman, and potentially Davion Mintz, who may return for a sixth-year of college basketball next season.
