It’s been a tough year for superstar center Karl-Anthony Towns.
He’s battled injury on the court, struggling to find his rhythm, but what’s happened off the court has been far more impactful.
Almost a year ago, KAT lost his mother to COVID-19. It was on April 13, 2020, that Jacqueline Towns passed away.
The Minnesota Timberwolves honored his mother tonight against the Chicago Bulls, and Towns made sure that he put on a performance that certainly would’ve had his mom smiling.
There was moment when KAT hit that clutch 3 toward the end of the game.

It hit nothing but net & KAT looked upward. On the same night the Wolves honored Jackie Towns.
The moment happened quickly, but it was touching. RIP Jackie. Thanks for raising such a wonderful young man. pic.twitter.com/RC12FIFX3O
Zach LaVine and the Bulls came to town, taking on the Wolves at the Target Center. LaVine has taken the next step in his game this season as the Bulls may be a playoff-contending team in a weak Eastern Conference.
Former teammates, Towns got the best of the Bulls today. The two-time All-Star put up 27 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Aside from Ricky Rubio’s eight assists, Towns led the game in both rebounds and assists.
Towns was also 8-for-8 from the free throw line and 8-for-15 from the field. He shared a brief moment with LaVine and his dad following the game.
