Texas Tech star Mac McClung enters the transfer portal

He is also putting his name in the NBA Draft.

Almost every single day now, a new possible transfer option for John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats hit the transfer portal.

Calipari has already been deemed a winner of the portal after bringing in West Virginia transfer Oscar Tshiebwe and Davidson transfer Kellan Grady.

However, it is highly unlikely that those are the only two additions, and another option is now in the portal.

Texas Tech star Mac McClung announced on Sunday that he would be entering the NBA Draft process and putting his name in the transfer portal as well.

During the 2020-21 season, McClung averaged 15.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 41.9% from the floor and 34.3% from three. Because he’s testing the NBA Draft waters, he won’t have to make a final decision until around July as to whether he’ll return to school or go pro, a similar situation to Minnesota transfer Marcus Carr.

It is still too early to know if Kentucky will be interested in landing McClung, but I would have to imagine the Texas Longhorns are one of the top contenders, if he decides to go back to college, since former Red Raiders coach Chris Beard just took that job.

Regardless, John Calipari has a lot of potential options in the transfer portal as he works on building his 2021-22 roster.

In the meantime, here are some highlights of McClung in action.
