The 2020-2021 Kentucky basketball season began with the then-No. 10 Wildcats defeating the Morehead State Eagles by a score of 81-45. ‘Twas Kentucky native Preston Spradlin going up against Kentucky’s idol John Calipari. While the opening game to the season ended poorly for the Eagles, the tides between the two teams were quickly turned.
Kentucky went on to lose their next six games and played basketball for nearly two more months before even scoring more than 81 points in a game. Now, as the regular season has concluded, it’s the Eagles who have booked their trip to the Big Dance. Morehead State took out Eastern Kentucky University over the weekend to win the OVC Championship.
Spradlin’s Eagles will be one of the hottest teams entering the tournament, winning 19 of their final 20 games of the regular season. He was named coach of the year in his conference and will lead his team to their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
