ESPN 680 Postgame Podcast: Kentucky throttles South Carolina

We recapped a dominating win over the Gamecocks.

NCAA Basketball: South Carolina at Kentucky Arden Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been a while since we’ve been able to have some fun around here and it felt great as we watched the Kentucky Wildcats completely steamroll the South Carolina Gamecocks.

John Calipari started the game flipping the keys over to Davion Mintz as the primary point guard on the team and the results paid off immediately. With Mintz running point and Brandon Boston, Jr. at the two seemed to be what we’ve been waiting for offensively from this team.

This felt like the old school senior day game that we’ve come to love where the Cats throttle their opponent and Calipari is able to clear his bench to let the walk-ons get some run. The elephant in the room is the obvious question as to whether or not Kentucky can in fact make a movie script run to win the SEC Tournament as their only avenue to get to the NCAA Tournament.

Here is what we discussed:

  • Davion Mintz at point guard maybe should have happened sooner than it did
  • More Isaiah Jackson at the five with Keion Brooks at the four, please
  • BJ Boston was lights out as the two guard
  • John Calipari’s Zoom press conference
  • Is Cal setting the table for a BJ Boston sophomore season?
  • Does BBN have one last gasp of hope?
  • Calipari urged fans to storm Nashville
