How far will Kentucky go in the SEC Tournament?

It’s win or go home.

The field is set, at least for the Kentucky Wildcats’ first two potential matchups. Kentucky is locked into the No. 8 seed and will take on the No. 9 seed Mississippi State Bulldogs Thursday at noon. If they win, they will take on the No. 1 seed Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Wildcats have 16-1 odds right now to win the entire tournament. That would mean four consecutive wins, three of which will likely be against teams that have already beat them. Kentucky’s first matchup with Mississippi State was a double overtime thriller. That is certainly not something Kentucky wants to see again from an endurance perspective.

Of course, this Kentucky team does look better than they did when SEC play started. Are they leaps and bounds ahead of where they were? Probably not. But I do not think a 28 point victory over anyone was a reality in early January, and that’s exactly what happened in the season finale against South Carolina.

At this point, every game is an elimination game. Survive and advance. If Kentucky somehow beats Mississippi State and Alabama, they will likely face Tennessee, Florida, or LSU. They have beaten each of those teams once already this year.

It is certainly an uphill climb, but it is a hill that must be conquered for this team to keep dancing in March. So how far do you think the Wildcats can go in the 2021 SEC Tournament?
