We now know who the mysterious injured Wildcat is, though it doesn’t sound like it will sideline him when Kentucky hosts South Carolina on Saturday.
According to KSR and Kyle Tucker, senior guard Davion Mintz has a minor injury but is expected to play tomorrow vs. the Gamecocks.
Head coach John Calipari didn’t reveal who was injured during his Friday press conference, but he did admit Kentucky has been having physical practices this week that left some guys a little battered.
Calipari didn’t name Davion Mintz here. But it was Mintz. I’m told this *injury* is “nothing.” pic.twitter.com/ZItCWW0BHT

Mintz is pretty much the last guy Kentucky could afford to lose, especially now that he’s playing point guard more in what hopes to be the ‘tweak’ that gives this team a chance to win the SEC Tournament next week.
If Mintz were to be sidelined, it would leave Devin Askew as the only true point guard left on the roster, though Kentucky has briefly experimented with BJ Boston running the point in practice this season.
Saturday may very well be Mintz’s last game at Rupp Arena, as the fifth-year senior will have a tough decision to make this offseason on whether to return for a sixth year or begin his professional basketball career.
