The Kentucky Wildcats just got some outstanding news from the transfer market, as Davidson star guard Kellan Grady has announced he will transfer to Kentucky.
Grady is a graduate transfer, so he will be immediately eligible for the upcoming season, and he brings exactly what Kentucky needs.
At 6-5, Grady is someone that can fill it up on the offensive end of the floor. He averaged 17.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists this past season while shooting 47% from the field. The stat that Kentucky fans will enjoy is that he also shot 38.2% from three-point range.
Kentucky fans have seen Grady before in the 2018 NCAA Tournament when Grady had 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in a 78-73 loss to Kentucky in the Round of 64.
This is a massive pickup for John Calipari and his staff as they look to bounce back in 2021-22 after a rough season.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the news:

.@KellanGrady31 has established himself as one of the best players in the country. His size, his skills, his scoring ability and his playmaking ability speak volumes to the player that he is. https://t.co/WNpwlsVSvF
— John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) March 29, 2021
.@KellanGrady31's consistency – his scoring, his ability to share the ball and his defense – is part of what makes him special. We're ecstatic to have him join a team that was close last season but needed what he gives us to get over to the top.

Kellan Grady starts to move the needle for Kentucky next year. Synergy ranks in top 88% of all players nationally (1.042 PPP). Excellent spot up shooter who can run pick & roll and score in transition. Solid defender.

What a massive transfer

I said the other day on Kentucky Daily that Kellan Grady would be priority number one for me in the portal. A big time scorer that can shoot the basketball.

Weird that Cal is recruiting top transfers to UK just for him to leave for Texas!

Newest Wildcat Kellan Grady:
— TheCatsPause247 (@TheCatsPause247) March 29, 2021
"I’m very excited to be a Wildcat again and play for Coach Calipari at the University of Kentucky. It is a tremendous opportunity to compete at the highest level and pursue my dreams. I’m grateful for the opportunity and eager to get to work."
Kentucky has landed a legitimate scorer in Davidson's Kellan Grady. 2,000 point scorers who have started 122 games aren't exactly easy to find. https://t.co/Kh298LHwZ1

Took a long nap and woke up to the Kellan Grady news. Wow.
— HANGMAN TUCKY (@SportsHangman) March 29, 2021
Kellan Grady was a former 4 star recruit(highest ever in Davidson school history) and averaged 17 ppg over four seasons while consistently being the top guard in that conference. 38% 3 pt shooter
— BEEZY (@Burke_Franklin_) March 29, 2021
Step off the ledge folks, Cal knows what he’s doing.
As a freshman, Kellan Grady scored 16 points in Davidson's 78-73 loss to Kentucky in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.

Kellan Grady has scored over 2,000 points at Davidson and made 245 threes

HUGE get for the Cats!!!
Kellan Grady stands to be the first player ever to get a great education AND be a one and done at Kentucky.
— John Burns - CCEBA (@CcebaCounsel) March 29, 2021
Go get 'em young man. #TCC
Think I have some quick thoughts on Kellan Grady to Kentucky coming later with @KyleTucker_ATH. In short, it’s a super smart addition for them to get a veteran shooter like him. And it’ll give Grady every opportunity to prove the things scouts are looking for from his perspective

Bring me a backcourt of Mintz and Kellan Grady please!
— John Ramey (@johnramey09) March 29, 2021
Adding 6’5” Guard Kellan Grady from Davidson is a HUGE get for Coach Calipari and the staff. Grady has averaged 17.4 ppg for his career on 47.2%/36.6%/76.2% splits. Over 2 makes per game. Former Top 100 recruit too so this isn’t your “typical” Davidson transfer. Great news!

Will have much more on Kellan Grady to Kentucky, but here's the quick-hitter on that news.
— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) March 29, 2021
UK's roster had 4,800 minutes of college experience entering this season. Grady has 4,100 minutes himself. Just a huge veteran addition: https://t.co/AKBW7qrFVY
Listen, clearly John Calipari doesn't get a pass for last season. But lets also acknowledge that he very clearly saw the shortcomings in last years team - notably shooting and skill, as opposed to athleticism- and vowed to change it. This is a GREAT start
