Today is game day for UK Hoops as the Wildcats take on Iowa.
With a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line, the Wildcats and Hawkeyes will go head-to-head in a matchup of two of the top players in the country.
Of course, Kentucky has SEC Player of the Year and First Team All-American Rhyne Howard, but the Hawkeyes have a freshman phenom in fellow First Team All-American Caitlin Clark, the nation’s leading scorer at 26.5 points per game.
That matchup alone makes this one of the more anticipated games of the day, but Kentucky will need other players to step up big if they’re going to take down Iowa, one of the highest-scoring teams in the nation.
As a team, Iowa averages 86.6 points per game and allows 80.2 points per game. The Hawkeyes are hitting 51.4 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from 3.
The Wildcats will certainly have their hands full today when the game tips off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The second-round game will be televised nationally on ESPNU with Eric Frede and Tamika Catchings on the call. The action can be seen through WatchESPN on computers, smartphones or tablets. Darren Headrick will have the call on the UK Sports Network on 630AM WLAP in Lexington. Live stats and free live audio will be available online at UKathletics.com.
