Toward the end of his freshmen season, Keion Brooks emerged as a potential star. He played a major role in Kentucky’s big win over Florida to end the 2019-2020 season, and as the only returner the next year he had high expectations.
However, Brooks’ sophomore campaign did not start out as expected. He was injured from the get-go and did not appear in a single game until January 9th. Brooks averaged 10.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. There were times when he looked like he was figuring out how to lead this team, but ultimately he ended up struggling alongside everyone else.
Now, it’s a mystery as to what Brooks’ next move is.
When the season ended, there was speculation Brooks could transfer, which his father quickly shot down. But with Kentucky potentially having a deep frontcourt next season, might he feel it best to find a new team?
While Nick Richards certainly made a strong case for a third year at Kentucky, he is the only player to stick around that long and turn it into a higher draft position. Brooks could certainly break out next season with another year of development and perhaps a better roster make-up.
If he wants to go pro, Brooks has not appeared on any draft boards and is currently not an NBA prospect, but he does have the physical makeup and potential to work his way into a reserve role in the league. He’s probably good enough to get a two-way contract with someone. Would he rather spend another year in college or earn a paycheck while being with an NBA team?
So, we’ll ask you, what do you think will become of Brooks?
