ESPN makes SEC Tournament predictions

No real surprises here.

NCAA Basketball: Arkansas at Alabama Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

In a four-person prediction panel predicting the winners of each 2021 conference tournament. ESPN’s Myron Medcalf, Jeff Borzello, John Gasaway and Joe Lunardi do not see the Kentucky Wildcats cutting down the nets in Nashville.

The four were split between the SEC regular-season champion Alabama Crimson Tide and second-place Arkansas Razorbacks in their predictions. Medcalf and Gasaway picked the Hogs and Borzello and Lunardi are rolling with the Tide.

This does not come as much of a surprise as with Tennessee’s recent struggles, LSU and Florida’s vulnerability and Missouri’s late-season slide, Alabama and Arkansas have separated themselves from the rest of the conference.

If the season ended today, Kentucky would be the 8-seed in the tournament. They hope to prove the panel wrong as their only hope at landing an NCAA Tournament bid would be to emerge victorious in Nashville.

In other noteworthy predictions, Medcalf, Gasaway and Lunardi all like Michigan to win the Big Ten Tournament, with Borzello going with Illinois.

All three besides Lunardi (Marshall) like Western Kentucky to win the Conference USA Tournament, Medcalf sees Duke winning the ACC Tournament and Gasaway picked North Carolina with the other two picking Florida State and Medcalf is picking Morehead State to win the Ohio Valley Conference tournament crown.
