The Kentucky Wildcats seemed to be in a good spot for their top football target, but things are starting to trend in the wrong direction.
Owensboro quarterback Gavin Wimsatt is ranked as the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country, and he is nearing a decision.
Rutgers is one of the final four to land Wimsatt along with Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, and Kentucky.
Wimsatt’s mother told Wiltfong that they recently visited Rutgers and left pleased.
In addition, Rivals recruiting analyst Dave Lackford is also picking Rutgers to land Wimsatt.
This would be a massive loss for the Cats as Wimsatt is their top 2022 target and they are all in on him being the future leader of the Kentucky offense.
Hopefully, Vince Marrow is able to turn this recruitment back into Kentucky’s favor.
