This would be a really nice hire for Kentucky.

The Kentucky Wildcats appear to have found their new running backs coach.

According to KSR’s Matt Jones, Wisconsin Badgers running backs coach John Settle is likely to take the same job at Kentucky. FootballScoop has since confirmed the news.

Settle has been the RB coach in Madison since 2015 and for 11 years total. He previously served in the role from 2006-10 before taking the same job with the Carolina Panthers from 2011-12, then the Cleveland Browns in 2013.

After a one-year stint in that role for the Pittsburgh Panthers, Settle found his way back to Wisconsin in 2015 and has been there ever since. Among the college players Settle has coached include Montee Ball, James White, James Conner, Corey Clement, Dare Ogunbowale and Jonathan Taylor, all of whom have played multiple seasons in the NFL.

If this hire it’s made, it will hopefully be the last time Kentucky has to find another running backs coach, as they’re now on their third one since the offseason began.

Former offensive coordinator/running backs coach Eddie Gran was let go this offseason after serving in those roles since 2016. He was quickly replaced with the Cincinnati Bengals’ Jemal Singleton, who later departed to become an assistant coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.
