The Kentucky Wildcats received a major commitment on Wednesday from four-star linebacker Trevin Wallace.
Wallace is a consensus four-star recruit and is ranked No. 35 overall nationally by 247 Sports and is No. 140 nationally via 247 Sports Composite.
The Georgia native picked the Cats but also had offers from the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Florida Gators, Tennessee Volunteers, Oklahoma Sooners, and LSU Tigers.
Wallace has been a player that can do it all as he has taken snaps on both sides of the ball. However, he is going to fill a much-needed spot on the Kentucky defense as the linebacker position has become a little thin heading into 2021 with Jamin Davis off to the NFL.
247’s Gabe Brooks evaluated Wallace and gave him a comparison to former LSU linebacker and current Baltimore Ravens rising star Patrick Queen.
KSR writer and former Kentucky quarterback Freddie Maggard said Wallace’s tape is the best he’s ever seen from a Kentucky football recruit.

“Trevin is as talented an inside linebacker as we have recruited here. He jumps off the tape as you watch film. He’s the type of athlete with the potential to make an immediate impact.”

With Trevin Wallace signing with UK, the Cats brought in two top-150 (247Sports composite) players in the same class for the second time in the Mark Stoops era. Landon Young and Drake Jackson were both top-150 players in the 2016 class.

In two recruiting cycles Jon Sumrall has received Top 100 commitments from Miss. native Josaih Hayes over Ole Miss and now Georgia native Trevin Wallace over Auburn and UGA. The former Cat has exceeded expectations on the trail.

KY/OH/MI will always be the backbone of Kentucky's recruiting efforts, but eventually you have to dip into the south and win battles against conference foes. UK did that the last two classes with Josaih Hayes, Joel Williams, Christian Lewis and Trevin Wallace. Big time.

Jon Sumrall has built the best recruiting brand Kentucky has had in SEC country in a very long time. Very important for the program to keep him for as long as possible.

Trevin Wallace is an off-ball linebacker with closing speed, instincts, burst and power. He fits everything you could want in an ILB prospect and still has plenty of room for growth. https://t.co/dikWSdNuSf

Kentucky continues to add some big-time talent. Some of the players the team has landed:
— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) February 3, 2021
— Wan'Dale Robinson, who ranked fourth in the Big Ten in catches this season.
— Trevin Wallace, the No. 2 ranked inside linebacker in the 2021 class.
— Three other four-star recruits.
