UPDATE 2

The SEC has officially announced that Kentucky vs. Texas A&M has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Aggies’ program. No makeup date has been announced.

Kentucky has now had four games canceled or postponed due to COVID-19 this season, including Detroit-Mercy, Texas, South Carolina, and now Texas A&M.

UPDATE

While there’s been no official announcement from Kentucky or the SEC, John Calipari just said that Tuesday’s clash with Texas A&M has been cancelled, according to KSR’s Matt Jones.

With just two weeks left in the regular season, Kentucky now has just two games left on the schedule. Expect that to change soon as Kentucky and the SEC try to work together on setting up 1-2 more league games, and Kentucky may also try to squeeze in a non-conference game.

The Kentucky Wildcats are riding high after a 70-55 thrashing of the Tennessee Volunteers. While an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament is still likely out of the cards, Kentucky is still hoping to finish the regular season strong and keep building toward a run in the SEC Tournament.

Unfortunately, one of Kentucky’s upcoming games may be postponed due to COVID-19.

Following Saturday’s win in Knoxville, head coach John Calipari did not sound optimistic that Kentucky will get to host Texas A&M next Tuesday. He actually hinted at Kentucky playing the Aggies, as well as South Carolina, during the final week of regular-season play.

“The gauntlet that these kids have just been through...I’m not sure we don’t take a couple days and catch our breath and then try to play A&M and South Carolina both at that last week where we get three games in a week,” Calipari said in his postgame press conference. “We’d play at Mississippi (March 2nd) and then have two home games before our conference tournament. That would be what I’d like to do.”

The Cats’ SEC opener vs. the Gamecocks in January was postponed due to COVID-19, and that game has yet to be rescheduled.

As for the Aggies, they’ve been crushed by COVID-19 and missed their last five SEC games, including Saturday’s matchup with Arkansas, a game the Aggies were planning to play with a limited roster. However, another positive COVID-19 test within the program led to another postponement, and it appears there’s a real chance they won’t be ready to go Tuesday in Rupp Arena.

If Kentucky - Texas A&M does get postponed, look for an announcement to be made Sunday or early Monday. Perhaps there’s a chance the game could just get postponed by a day or two, similar to what happened when Kentucky needed an extra day to get past its COVID issues before playing Missouri earlier this month.
