Well folks another college baseball season is upon us. With opening days only weeks away, the SEC Coaches poll for final season standing was released this week.
Let’s just say it’s not going to be music to Cats fans ears.

As you can see from the poll above Coaches in the league have the Cats ending up finishing in last place in the league this season. Florida was the heavy favorite to win the league and should be the heavy favorite to come away with a title in Omaha this season.
Once again the SEC is the premier College Baseball conference with Eleven of Fourteen teams starting off the season in the Pre-season Top 25. That is absolutely absurd, but is a constant when it comes the sport year in and year out.
This season Kentucky is returning one of the more veteran, offensive minded teams in the conference, as well as a solid defense. If pitching can show up each night the Cats should hopefully be competitive.
Nick Mingione is entering his Fifth season in Lexington and after a stellar start to his career, winning Coach of the Year in 2017, the teams have declined year after year since. It seems though recruiting is finally back on an up swing for the Kentucky program which should help compete across the board in the conference.
To go along with the Coaches poll for the standings, TJ Collett was selected to the Coaches Pre-season All SEC First Team at first base. Using the extra year of eligibility he was granted, he will be a huge part to helping this team reach its full potential.
Our man T.J. Collett is the SEC's active leader in home runs. He's also the Coaches Preseason All-SEC first baseman! #WeAreUK pic.twitter.com/r5Bkw4HDao

Kentucky finished last season 11-6, also finishing the season on a six game win streak before COVID halted the season.
Kentucky opens up the season next weekend in Chapel Hill with a series against the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Go Cats!
