Belfry High School running back Isaac Dixon has received a preferred walk-on offer with the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Dixon announced the offer Friday on Twitter.

Dixon came back for an extra year, utilizing the rule put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and had a great year for the Pirates, leading them to the KHSAA 3A Championship.

Dixon ran for 1,986 yards and 29 touchdowns on the season, averaging more than 150 rushing yards per game. In an offense that only threw the ball 13 times all season, Dixon also caught three passes for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns.

While having a great season, Dixon may have saved his best performance for last. In the 3A championship against Paducah-Tilghman, Dixon led his team to victory by carrying the ball 41 times for 376 yards and 5 touchdowns as Belfry came out on top 33-28.

Dixon is also a finalist for Kentucky’s Mr. Football Award.

Dixon had initially signed as a preferred walk-on to Neal Brown and West Virginia University in February of this year before utilizing the ability to come back for another year of high school.

At a camp back in the summer at UK, Dixon caught some attention running a 4.47 40-yard-dash at the camp.

It’s not yet known where Dixon will end up. More offers will likely come from various levels, and he’ll weigh his options, but Kentucky has let him know that they would like to have him on the team, and it’s almost certain a lot of fans in the eastern part of the state would love to see the talented prospect from Belfry don the Blue and White.
