Trevin Wallace named SEC Freshman of the Week

The true freshman has a very bright future ahead of him.

Kentucky Wildcats linebacker Trevin Wallace has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Wallace, who made his first collegiate start at outside linebacker vs. Mississippi State, recorded a career-high 12 tackles, including two tackles for a loss.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder from Jesup (GA) continues to show why he was a top-50 recruit in the 2021 class, as he’s well on his way to making the SEC All-Freshman Team when it comes time for postseason awards.

The most memorable moment of Wallace’s young career was when he scored the go-ahead touchdown in a win over No. 10 Florida by returning a blocked field goal for a score, which helped Kentucky win 20-13 and beat the Gators in Lexington for the first time since 1986.

For the season, Wallace has 20, three tackles for loss, one sack and a quarterback hurry in eight games.
