Saturday night’s 20-13 victory over the University of Florida was monumental in every way imaginable for the Kentucky Wildcats.
It was a game that every member of the Big Blue Nation will remember forever.
That being said, things aren’t going to get much easier for UK over the next few weeks, so staying focused will be critical.
The undefeated Cats’ next text will be against traditional SEC powerhouse, LSU, who will be coming off a loss to Auburn dropping them to 3-2 on the year.
Thankfully this one be another night game at under the lights at Kroger Field.
The game is slated for a 7:30 PM kick-off and can be seen on the SEC Network.
After defeating the Gators, Mark Stoops praised the home crowd over and over for their role in pushing the Cats through the finish line. Duplicating that environment could be pivotal in UK’s quest for 6-0.
After throttling Emory Jones, Brad White will have to prepare his defense for an effective LSU passing attack.
Sophomore Quarterback Max Johnson is third in the SEC with nearly 1,500 passing yards. His primary target, Kayshon Boutte, ranks second in the league after hauling in 436 yards of those per game.
For comparison, Wan’Dale Robinson leads the SEC with 467 yards. None more memorable than his mind-blowing first quarter 41 yard improbable score against Florida.
Despite averaging 31 points per game, the Tiger offensive attack is 12th in the conference, only ahead of South Carolina and Vanderbilt. They’ll also be coming off over their lowest offensive output of the season after only putting up 19 points on their homefield in the loss to Auburn.
On paper, the Cats look poised to take another major step in program history on Saturday night. The oddsmakers think so too. ESPN’s matchup predictor gives UK a slight edge by predicting they have a 51.8% chance of winning.
Players, coaches and fans are all officially in uncharted waters as we all adapt to this all-time program success.
It’s going to be a long wait for kick off. Follow A Sea of Blue for this week’s coverage.
