Kentucky Wildcats center Luke Fortner has been added to the Rimington Trophy Watch List, which is annually awarded to college football’s best center.
Fortner, who moved from guard to center this year, has already been SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week twice this season. Fortner and the rest of the Big Blue Wall were recently named to the Joe Moore Midseason Honor Roll for their efforts in helping Kentucky start the season 6-1 and crack the top 15 of the latest Coaches and AP Top 25 Polls.
The 6-foot-6, 297-pound lineman from Sylvania (OH) has played in 49 career games with 30-straight starts, 23 of which coming at right guard. His level of play this year combined with his ability to play multiple offensive line spots at a high level is starting to garner NFL Draft buzz. He was recently projected as a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by Pro Football Network.
Only five games remain in what’s been a special regular season thus far, so here’s to hoping Fortner remains in contention for other postseason honors as the Wildcats look to win out and earn a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl.
