Fresh off a much-needed bye week, your Kentucky Wildcats will travel to Starkville, MS for a road matchup against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. After opening as two-point underdogs, the Wildcats have been bet up early to one-point favorites. ESPN’s Football Power Index still is in slight favor of the Bulldogs, giving Kentucky just a 46.5% chance of victory.
Despite Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops being 0-4 in Starkville during his career, the Wildcats should be confident heading into the weekend. Kentucky is indeed coming off a road loss at Georgia, but it’s hard to expect a road victory over the nation’s undisputed No. 1 team. The Wildcats did knock off both Florida and LSU in back-to-back weeks prior to their one loss of the season and should get back on track this Saturday.
Bulldogs quarterback Will Rogers should be the point of emphasis for the Kentucky defense, while the Wildcats’ offense should look to attack through the air. The Bulldogs are 80th in the country for passing yards allowed vs. ninth in the country for rushing yards allowed. Considering last week’s circumstances, Kentucky quarterback Will Levis is coming off arguably his best game as a Wildcat. Look for the veteran to keep his momentum rolling and find a quality win in a hard atmosphere to play.
