Deone Walker is one of the better defensive linemen in the state of Michigan and the entire country. He stands 6’7, 356 pounds and will be an impactful freshman for someone’s defense next fall. Walker has fielded offers from multiple SEC schools including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia and LSU as well as your Kentucky Wildcats.
While Michigan and coach Jim Harbaugh have and continue to be the front-runners for Walker, would you believe that Kentucky is starting to trend above the other SEC programs with momentum to become a real destination to sign the young talent? Walker had this to say about Kentucky and the Wildcats’ program.
“Kentucky was great,” he said. “Their fans are hype. There wasn’t really a dull moment when I was there. Coach (Eric) Wolford is real, Coach (Anwar) Stewart has been talking some and Coach (Brad) White, also.”
While Walker hasn’t taken an official visit to Lexington yet, it’s likely that happens towards the end of the contact period in December. This would be an incredible snag for Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops and legendary recruiter Vince Marrow.
