The Kentucky Wildcats had a lot of big-name recruits in attendance for Friday night’s Big Blue Madness.
One of the players in attendance was Reed Sheppard who has had the full attention of the BBN since he started to emerge as a top talent over the summer.
Zack Geoghegan of Kentucky Sports Radio caught up with Reed’s father, Jeff Sheppard, to see how the visit went and to get an update on his son’s recruitment.
“Reed had a positive experience,” Jeff Sheppard said. “It was a lot of fun for him, and he had a really good weekend.”
Also in Lexington was 5-star juniors Mackenzie Mgbako and DJ Wagner. Sheppard spent a lot of time hanging out with them. Since Sheppard plays on the Adidas circuit and the others play with Nike, this was the first chance for the players to get acquainted.
On the recruiting side of things, Sheppard is officially one of the more highly recruited players and recently made the jump inside the top 20 on 247 Sports’ rankings.
Kentucky has been one of the main schools recruiting Sheppard, but they are not the only school high on his list.
“The five schools that are talking to Reed the most are Kentucky and Virginia, Louisville, Indiana, and Ohio State,” Jeff Sheppard said. “Those are the schools that he’s actively talking to. Texas A&M, we were talking to them a little bit early on, and there were some other schools around the country as well that had made him offers.”
I am sure the BBN will be following North Laurel’s high school season closely and Sheppard’s junior campaign will tipoff on November 29th.
