Ian Carry, head coach of the University of Kentucky Wildcats women’s soccer team, has been relieved of duties, UK athletics director Mitch Barnhart announced Friday. Current assistant coach Paul Babba will serve as interim coach for the remainder of the season.
Carry was in his fifth season as head coach of the Wildcats. He also was an assistant coach with UK from 2013-16 before being named head coach.
In his five years at the helm of the program, Carry finishes with a record of 26-50-8 overall and 6-35-4 in the SEC. He went 8-12 in 2017, 5-14 in 2018, 6-10-3 in 2019, and 1-6-3 in 2020.
The Wildcats have a 6-8-2 overall record and are 0-7 in the SEC this season after losing on Senior Night to LSU 1-0, and three matches remain on the schedule.
Now, Barnhart and UK will begin a national search for a new women’s soccer head coach.
