Shaedon Sharpe “strongly considering” enrolling early at Kentucky, per report

Could Sharpe be a part of this season’s roster?

Could Kentucky be bringing the No. 1 player in the class of 2022 to campus early? Travis Branham of 247 Sports is reporting that Shaedon Sharpe is “strongly considering” enrolling at Kentucky early, for the second semester.

This would be similar to what Hamidou Diallo did in 2017.

“Shaedon Sharpe’s development is well ahead of schedule, as a result, he is considering enrolling earlier than expected at the University of Kentucky,” the source told 247Sports.

Branham reports that Sharpe’s goal is to join the team at the break, practice and develop, while not playing a game until the 2022-23 season.

Getting Sharpe to enroll early would be a massive win for John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats. It ensures that Sharpe gets an extra half of a season in a collegiate weight room, practicing and learning the John Calipari system before the rest of his 2022 teammates arrive during the summer.

Some fans may be weary of this decision, as Hamidou Diallo did the same thing four seasons ago and the BBN sweated out Diallo’s NBA Draft decision until the literal last minute of the deadline.

Diallo had yet to even play a game for Kentucky.

But if this is the case with Sharpe, John Calipari has almost certainly had some talks with him about the possibility and has signed off on it.
