For the first time this season, the Kentucky Wildcats hit the field as ranked football team, as the No. 16 Cats hosted the LSU Tigers at Kroger Field under the bright Saturday night lights.
Kentucky entered the day a perfect 5-0 with three conference wins, including a 20-13 upset of then-ranked No. 10 Florida last Saturday for the team’s first home win over the Gators since 1986.
Though the spread for this one was just Kentucky -2, it was never really in doubt, as the Cats jumped out to a 14-0 lead, eventually went up 35-7 in the fourth quarter before coming away with a 42-21 win over the Tigers.
This is Kentucky’s first 6-0 start in over 70 years, as the last team to do so was the 1950 Sugar Bowl champion team.
LSU is just two years removed and still has a handful of starters from their 2019 National Championship roster, but there was no doubt Kentucky had the better team on this night.
