ESPN called it early, sent alert that Vanderbilt beat Kentucky

ESPN takes an L.

The Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores on Tuesday night.

However, if you had ESPN alerts on, you may have thought Kentucky had lost until you refreshed it a few times.

The worldwide leader in sports sent out a notification that Vanderbilt beat Kentucky 40-35. It was close to the halftime score as Vandy ended the first 20 minutes up 40-33.

That said, here’s the alert that ESPN popped to its Kentucky faithful.

The Wildcats ended up winning the game 77-74.

It was a nail-biter of a game and one in which the Wildcats played the son of NBA legend Scottie Pippin. Olivier Sarr finished the game with a team-high 24 points. Dontaie Allen scored 14 points, and Devin Askew chipped in 11 as well.

The Wildcats were down for parts of the game, so pulling out this win should help build the spirit of the team after losing games like this in most of their defeats. Kentucky has now improved to a 3-6 record, winning their last two in a row. They’ll get a big road test Saturday vs. the Florida Gators.
