John Calipari said on his radio show that he “guesses’ Clarke will not play tomorrow. One could also surmise this means Clarke is highly questionable to play Saturday vs. the Florida Gators.
Clarke sat out Saturday’s contest against the Bulldogs, nursing an ankle injury that he played on against Louisville two weeks ago. With Clarke sitting out against Mississippi State, Dontaie Allen got his chance and made the most of it dropping 23 points with seven made threes. He should get a heavy dose of playing time vs. the Dores.
As for Keion Brooks Jr., who remains sidelined with his mysterious calf injury, Calipari said tonight that the team is simply waiting for the doctors to give the go-ahead on letting the sophomore forward play in games. It certainly doesn’t sound like Brooks will play Tuesday, so hopefully he’s not out for much longer.
For what it’s worth, Brooks was seen dunking during pregame warmups prior to the game at Mississippi State.
With Clarke and Brooks likely out Tuesday, could we see Cam’Ron Fletcher play?
The freshman forward hasn’t played since his outburst in the loss to North Carolina, which led to him taking time away from the team. He did not play vs. Louisville or Mississippi State.
Tonight, Calipari said it’s possible Fletcher plays Tuesday if Kentucky has foul trouble, “but only if we have foul trouble.”
So don’t expect to see much of Fletcher Tuesday, but it is nice to know he should be available to play with Clarke and Brooks likely out.
