The 4-6 Kentucky Wildcats were gifted a spot in the TaxSlayer Gator bowl, and they made the most of it with a wild win over a top-25 NC State Wolfpack squad.
Held in Jacksonville (FL), the game was decided by a difference of three turnovers as the Wildcats forced a trio of them while not committing a single one. Kentucky ended up winning the game 23-21 after entering halftime up 13-0.
That said, although the Wildcats won, the play of the game might have been star cornerback Brandin Echols’ hilarious flop. Echols was shoved by a NC State player and stayed on the ground, even being fake resuscitated by his teammate.
Here’s the video of the flop and following drama.
The 5-11 defensive back ended the game with seven tackles, only one being a solo tackle. That ranked him third on the team to end the bowl game. He was behind Jamin Davis, the only player for the Wildcats in double-figure tackles, and Tyrell Ajian.
Echols, a senior, very likely played his last down as a Cat. Though the NCAA is giving everyone an extra year of eligibility, it appears Echols is ready to enter the NFL, where he may hear his name called as a late-round draft pick in 2021.
