Right from the start you could tell that Alabama was going to shoot a ton of threes, but the Cats were struggling to contest the shots.
The Tide jumped out to a quick 10-4 lead, but the Cats were able to cut it to 12-8 by the first media timeout.
With just over 10 minutes to play in the half, Devin Askew drilled a three to tie the game at 17.
However, down the final stretch of the half the Cats had one of their long scoring droughts that allowed Alabama to open a 33-22 lead.
The Cats were able to do some damage control in the final minutes and went into the locker room trailing 42-30.
Alabama picked up right where they left off to start the 2nd half as they pushed the lead to 48-32.
However, Kentucky found a bit of momentum as an and-one by Jacob Toppin cut the lead to 54-43 with just over 12 minutes to play.
Unfortunately, the Cats couldn’t build on the run as the Tide pushed the lead back to 61-45 at the under 8 media timeout.
The Cats would make some runs down the stretch, but the Tide answered them all as the Cats lose this one 85-65.

Kentucky starters tonight vs. Alabama: Askew, Mintz, Boston, Brooks, Sarr. #BBN— Jeff Drummond (@JDrumUK) January 13, 2021
If Alabama pushes this thing in the 80s and UK is able to keep pace I’ll be good no matter what the final outcome— Big Blue Drew (@BigBlueDrew33) January 13, 2021
Can’t afford to go under screens in a game like this— All Things Kentucky (@BBNWonka) January 13, 2021
UK looked like a mess that first five minutes. Lucky to only be down four.— T.J. Walker (@TJWalkerRadio) January 13, 2021
There's the rust from Keion we expected to see Saturday.— Nick Roush (@RoushKSR) January 13, 2021
Mintz with the classic NOOOOOOO .... yeah baby great shot vet!— Big Blue Drew (@BigBlueDrew33) January 13, 2021
Isaiah Jackson is one of the few players John Calipari allows to play behind his man in the post. He just showed why with that swat.— Chris Fisher (@ChrisFisher247) January 13, 2021
Thank goodness for Askew— Round Daddy (@JStreble82) January 13, 2021

I am not sure you can guard the three any worse than Kentucky did that half— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) January 13, 2021
Shackleford and Petty both get blow-by buckets, Cats get a shot-clock violation because Bama is absolutely smothering every dude on the floor. Story of the game.— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) January 13, 2021
This team just completely reverted within the span of three days— Ian Teasley (@ianteasley) January 13, 2021
That feels like a big moment. UK with a chance for back to back buckets. Allen has it ripped away and gives up a dunk— Justin Rowland (@RowlandRIVALS) January 13, 2021
I miss that team we saw Saturday— Dylan Ballard (@DylanBallard_UK) January 13, 2021
I don't know about you but I'm growing pretty tired of Alabama hitting 3s.— Drew Franklin (@DrewFranklinKSR) January 13, 2021

Modern Offense vs Old Offense— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) January 13, 2021
This game is about the clearest example of it I have seen
Our bigs haven’t posted up under 15 feet the entire game. I don’t understand why the emphasis now on pounding it into the post. Especially after looking so good last 3 games. Damn.— Guy on the Corner (@GOTCTickets) January 13, 2021
Kentucky 12 buckets— Jeff Drummond (@JDrumUK) January 13, 2021
Alabama 11 3-pointers

Limited attendance, but still a loud "YOU SUCK!" from the Rupp Arena faithful directed toward an official.— Jack Pilgrim (@JackPilgrimKSR) January 13, 2021
KSR has no comment on the matter.
I asked both Olivier Sarr and Isaiah Jackson if reaction to kneeldown during anthem would be distraction for this game. Both said no. Not so sure about it, especially when you include death of former UK player today— Vaughts' Views (@vaughtsviews) January 13, 2021

Kentucky is also learning that they have 2 good healthy on-ball defenders (and maybe 1 injured) and a whole lotta sieves there. Alabama just prodding at the weak links. Very NBA-style approach by Nate Oats, he’s a good coach!— Hoops Insight (@HoopsInsight) January 13, 2021
Don’t ignore the fact that Alabama is a great team this year, but Kentucky definitely took a step back tonight.— Tres Terrell (@TerrellTres) January 13, 2021

Can't shoot the 3, can't guard the 3.— John Clay (@johnclayiv) January 13, 2021
Yeah, so, trading and-ones isn't really going to do it. Kentucky showed some fight. Kept getting it to a dozen after it was 20. But woof.— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) January 13, 2021
Respect to Bama..we MUST speed the pace of the game up and score n transition and make it more up and down game. Press if must but continuing a half court game is to our disadvantage causing low energy play imo..— Roger Harden (@HardenRoger) January 13, 2021
