Will Tiz the Law capture the second jewel of the Triple Crown?

Oaks Day was beautiful and Derby Day may turn out to even better. As I sit on my deck writing the Saturday Quickies, and drinking my coffee, it’s about 60 degrees, sunny and not a cloud in the big blue sky.

Tiz the Law (5-8) is the heavy favorite in the Running of the Roses and most experts don’t think he will have much of a challenge. Honor AP (5-1) and Authentic (8-1) are really the horses that look to challenge the favorite.

But it’s September and weird things have already occurred. It would be quite fitting if a horse came out of nowhere to steal the spotlight from one of the heaviest favorites we have seen in a while.

The normal Derby party I go to was officially canceled last week, so I plan on celebrating the day by grilling ribs and drinking Old Forrester. Hopefully all of you reading this will be able to proceed with some fun plans for your Derby Day.

It’s weird but at least we have it.

Tweets of the Day

Girls/Beer/Sports is a great podcast and Carrie is about as big of a Kentucky football fan as there is. I share her sentiments.
