Skyy Clark’s recruitment has been a weird one for the Kentucky Wildcats.
Once viewed as a sure-fire commit for John Calipari and company, Clark to UK felt like it has lost some steam over the past month or so. That seems to go hand-in-hand with the North Carolina Tar Heels picking up steam for the five-star point guar.
However, 247 Sports’ Jerry Meyer, their lead expert now that Evan Daniels has moved on, is still predicting Kentucky to land Clark.
Kentucky was regarded as the early leader for Clark, but then North Carolina made a surge and some felt took the lead over Kentucky. My take is that despite developments like North Carolina’s inroads with Clark, Kentucky has been the leader and remains the leader.
This is encouraging news for Kentucky, Clark is one of the most talented guards, if not the most talented guard, in the country.
If Clark still does end up committing to UK, it could be for the 2021 class, thus likely deterring top-10 prospect Hunter Sallis away from Kentucky.
As for a decision, Clark is currently set to make his college choice on October 22nd. So whatever Clark is planning to do, this saga should be over in three weeks, at least in terms of where he’s going. A reclass decision may not come until after his junior season of high school hoops.
