Kentucky’s 2020 basketball class is outstanding. It was ranked No. 1 overall, and when you add in the transfer players you can see that John Calipari built a national title contender with almost completely new players.
But how many of them will he have to replace with recruits next season? We will not know for a while, but in the meantime there is only one player committed for 2021.
Nolan Hickman has signed on to join the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team next fall, but the rest of Coach Cal’s big targets have yet to decide. Tipton Edits, who often makes graphics for recruits announcing lists and final decisions, recently released his predictions for where the top players land.
Predictions for uncommitted prospects:
— Tipton Edits (@TiptonEdits) September 16, 2020
- Chet Holmgren: Gonzaga
- Patrick Baldwin Jr: Duke
- Jaden Hardy: UCLA
- Hunter Sallis: Kentucky
- Trevor Keels: Duke
- Charles Bediako: Alabama
- Bryce Hopkins: Kentucky
- Skyy Clark: UNC
- Ryan Mutombo: Tennessee
- Mike Foster: Pro
Kentucky had long been the favorite to land both Jaden Hardy and Skyy Clark, but Tipton Edits predicts they choose UCLA and North Carolina, respectively. Patrick Baldwin Jr. has to be considered as the top player in the class, but he is predicted to go to Duke.
However, Tipton Edits does believe Kentucky will land a few of their top targets. He has former Louisville commit Bryce Hopkins suiting up in Kentucky blue next season, and highly ranked guard Hunter Sallis is predicted to come to Lexington.
If Skyy Clark reclassifies to 2021, it is doubtful that anybody will get both he and Sallis. And there are varying opinions about which one you would rather have. However, landing either is a game-changer.
As always, Kentucky continues to chase that allusive top big man in recruiting. Apparently Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo dominating the NBA bubble has had no impact on recruiting...yet.
