The Kentucky Wildcats are ranked!
In the new Coaches Top 25 Poll released today, Kentucky came in ranked at No. 20. As for the new AP Poll, Kentucky checked in at No. 23.
This is obviously the first time Kentucky has been ranked since the final AP Poll back in 2019 after Kentucky finished the season 10-3 with a New Year’s Day bowl victory over Penn State. Kentucky finished that season ranked No. 12.
However, this does come with a caveat. Teams not playing this season, so Big Ten and Pac-12 teams, were not eligible for the AP and Coaches Poll, so that can take away some of the shine for some people. Still, it is an incredible accomplishment that Stoops and company have Kentucky ranked in the pre-season top-25. It’s still pre-season for the SEC.
This sets up for a top-25 showdown down in Auburn in two weeks. Auburn comes in ranked at No. 9 in the Coaches Poll and No. 8 in the AP Poll.
With no Big Ten or Pac-12 football this season, so far, there is a good chance that Kentucky could see themselves ranked in the polls for the majority of the season, barring something catastrophic happening.
