Former Kentucky Wildcat Jamal Murray has been the hottest player in the bubble for the 2020 Playoffs. The Denver Nuggets young star has gone head-to-head with former Louisville Cardinal and current Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell over the course of the first six games.
Both have dropped multiple 50-point games in the series, joining only Allen Iverson and Michael Jordan. The most recent 50-bomb came on Sunday as Murray’s Nuggets found their backs against the wall facing elimination.
Murray came out on fire, scoring 25 first half points on 9-13 shooting. He then came up clutch late in the fourth quarter with back-to-back threes to put Denver well ahead and clinch a final game 7 for the right to advance. He finished the outing scoring his 50 on an incredibly efficient 17-24 shooting (9-12 from three).
Everything will be on the line Tuesday evening when these two teams lace up against each other for the final time this season. Only one can advance and, with both young stars thriving, we’re almost guaranteed to see a firework show.
