With students returning to campus and classes resuming at the University of Kentucky, all athletics teams are now being tested for the coronavirus.

Today, the school issued an update on the testing status for student-athletes and staff. It includes 20 people testing positive for past infection.

Here are the updated testing results:

  • 416 student-athletes from all sports were PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tested from August 7-19. Ten were PCR positive.
  • 259 student-athletes who had newly returned to campus also underwent antibody testing during the initial onboarding process, with nine positive for past infections.
  • 143 staff members were PCR tested from August 7-19. One was PCR positive.

Student-athletes and staff testing PCR positive were required to isolate in accordance with CDC and local health department guidelines. UK will continue to monitor the situation surrounding the coronavirus and respond accordingly in collaboration with school leadership and the guidance of the SEC Medical Task Force.
