Saturday, the Kentucky Wildcats landed their first commitment to their 2021 class in four-star point guard Nolan Hickman.
Per many reports, it appears Hickman’s commitment could be the start of a hot streak for John Calipari and his staff with names to watch, including ex Louisville commit Bryce Hopkins and five-star point guard Hunter Sallis.
Both received offers from UK last Friday with Kentucky viewed as the heavy favorite for Hopkins. Now, it appears not only will they land the four-star power forward, but they also have a real chance at also adding Sallis, despite Kansas and North Carolina leading his recruitment much of the way.
Corey Evans of Rivals told Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader that he believes UK is among the top two options for the five-star point guard.
“I’m thinking that they have already discussed a situation with Hunter playing next to other guards,” Evans told the Herald-Leader. “They really, really, really want Hunter Sallis, and that was with Nolan Hickman in mind. So I still think Kentucky is probably 1 or 1A for Hunter Sallis already.”
Sallis is ranked as the 11th best overall prospect in the nation for 2021 by Rivals and the nation’s second-best prospect. The Omaha, Nebraska native had not yet set a decision date, though he did just release his top 12, which included Kentucky, North Carolina, and Kansas.
