Good recruiting news coming for Kentucky?

Kentucky sure could use it right now.

Kentucky suffered a setback on the recruiting trail Thursday when Paolo Banchero made a surprise commitment to Duke. But while that was a tough pill to swallow, there are still several big-time recruits that the Wildcats are in good shape with.

Could one of them actually commit to Kentucky soon?

On Friday, Mokan Elite coach Reese Holliday sent out an interesting tweet regarding the pipeline from his AAU program to Kentucky.

Mokan has produced several Wildcats over the years, including Willie Cauley-Stein.

Currently, the only Kentucky recruit playing for Mokan is four-star forward Bryce Hopkins.

Speaking of, right after Holliday sent that tweet, CatsPause reporter Chris Fisher logged a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Wildcats for Hopkins. That comes after Kentucky got two Rivals FutureCast predictions for Hopkins, as well as this subtle tweet by recruiting guru Andrew Slater.

The 6-7, 220-pound Hopkins, who plays at Fenwick High School (IL), is a consensus top-50 recruit with offers from Kansas, Oregon, Michigan, Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Indiana among others. His highest ranking is 32nd overall by ESPN.

Kentucky has gotten every prediction for Hopkins since he decommitted from Louisville two weeks ago. He’s expected to make a decision within the next month. Publicly, Hopkins hasn’t received a scholarship offer from John Calipari yet.

But seeing all the Kentucky buzz building in his recruitment, it may just be a matter of when, not if he gets it. If Hopkins were to pick Calipari’s program, it would be Kentucky’s first pledge in the Class of 2021.
