Now that fall camp has begun, the Kentucky Wildcats have released their official 2020 football roster.
In terms of returning players, starting linebacker DeAndre Square has gone from No. 17 to No. 5 for this season. Starting cornerback Cedrick Dort has gone from No. 27 to No. 3, the same number worn by starting quarterback Terry Wilson. Backup linebacker and Louisville native J.J. Weaver is switching from No. 45 to No. 13.
As for the incoming recruits, four-star running back Mike Drennen II will wear No. 5. Five-star defensive tackle Justin Rogers will wear No. 52. Four-star defensive tackles Josiah Hayes and Octavious Oxendine will wear No. 99 and No. 8 respectively. Four-star offensive tackles John Young and Jeremy Flax are going with No. 71 and No. 77 respectively.
Other notable roster numbers include No. 1 for former LSU transfer and four-star defensive back Kelvin Joseph, No. 2 for former Auburn transfer and four-star quarterback Joey Gatewood, and Ray Lewis’ sons — Rayshad Lewis and Rahsaan Lewis — wearing No. 27 and 28 respectively.
This has the potential to be one of the best rosters Kentucky has ever fielded. Let’s just hope we actually get to see it in action this fall.
