It’s been over a week since the SEC revealed the each league member’s 10 opponents for the 2020 season. We now know who the Kentucky Wildcats will open their season with.

On Sept. 26th, the opening week of SEC football this fall, Kentucky will be on the road to face the Auburn Tigers. The news was announced on the Paul Finebaum Show, ahead of the full 2020 SEC schedule release later tonight at 7 pm EST on the SEC Network.

Auburn finished the 2019 season with a 9-4 record and 5-3 mark in SEC play, including a win over Alabama. The Tigers fell to Minnesota in the Outback Bowl.

Currently, Kentucky is scheduled to play four teams ranked in the preseason Coaches Top 25 Poll, including Alabama (3), Georgia (4), Florida (8) and Auburn (11). Tennessee received the most votes of any team not in the top 25. Kentucky garnered the fourth-most votes.

However, that poll came out before the Big Ten and Pac-12 announced they would not have fall football seasons. So if you take out Ohio State (2), Penn State (7), Oregon (9), Wisconsin (12), Michigan (15), USC (17), Minnesota (18), Utah (20), and Iowa (23), then both Tennessee (17) and Kentucky (18th) both crack the top 20, while Alabama (2), Georgia (3), Florida (6), and Auburn (8) all move up in the top 10.

That means we could be seeing a top-25 showdown with the Cats and Tigers clash in The Plains.

Be sure to check back later tonight for Kentucky’s complete 2020 schedule.
