Top-10 recruit Peyton Watson sets decision date

And a clear-cut favorite has emerged.

Ball Is Life

The Kentucky Wildcats are in very good shape when it comes to the 2021 recruiting class, but one target is about to come off the board, and likely for a different school.

Peyton Watson is currently ranked as the No. 8 overall player in the class and is the No. 3 small forward in the country via 247 Sports.

The Long Beach (CA) native took to Twitter to announce that he will be announcing his commitment on Monday July 27th at 6 pm PT/ 9 pm ET.

John Calipari and his staff have been recruiting Watson very hard in recent weeks, and Watson spent time this summer in LA training with current Wildcats BJ Boston, Terrence Clarke, and Devin Askew.

Despite all the Kentucky attention, it appears that Watson is trending away from the Cats as the UCLA Bruins are gaining all the momentum.

As is currently stands, UCLA holds 100% of the predictions on 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball and 100% of the predictions on Rivals’ FutureCast. Every prediction has come in this week, so it appears the Bruins have surged into the lead ahead of Watson’s decision early next week.

Kentucky has been viewed as a school that could surge up Watson’s list if he got a scholarship offer, but thus far, one has not been extended by Calipari. It’s unclear if one being extended this late could turn the tide in this recruitment.

While it doesn’t look like the Cats will be landing the 6-7 forward, there is always time for the momentum to swing in a different direction, and we will all know what his decision is Monday night.
