Remember when Florida State was eyeing Mark Stoops for its head coach opening?
Thankfully, that never went anywhere, and the Noles wound up hiring Memphis’ Mike Norvell, who seemed like a great hire at the time.
Well, the Noles may be having some buyer’s remorse after what happened with Norvell and his players this week.
On Wednesday, Florida State star defensive lineman Marvin Wilson disputed that new Norvell reached out to players individually to discuss last week’s death of George Floyd. Wilson also stated he and his teammates would not be working out until further notice. This comes after Florida State players returned to campus Monday for voluntary workouts.
Man this did not happen mane. We got a generated text that was sent to everybody. There was no one on one talk between us and coach. This is a lie and me and my teammates as a whole are outraged and we will not be working out until further notice #hunchoout https://t.co/6Uuy6K7Eu3

If this is true, it’s about as awful of a look as a coach can have during what’s been a very challenging and tragic time for our country. It’s really hard to lose a locker room before even coaching a game, but Norvell is certainly making a run at it if he really lied about having individual conversations with players about this terrible tragedy.
