There is no doubt that Jonathan Kuminga is one of the most highly-touted high school basketball players in the country.
Currently ranked as the top recruit in 2021 by Rivals and 247 Sports, Kuminga is set to reclassify into the 2020 class, and ESPN already has him ranked him as the fourth-best recruit in 2020.
Last week, a report emerged that Kuminga would make his college/pro decision on June 22nd which is today. Those rumors have been shot down, however, as Kuminga’s brother, Texas Tech forward Joel Ntambwe, told Evan Daniels that a decision had not been made and won’t happen today.
“We haven’t really decided anything right now.” he said. “We are still trying to go through everything. We really don’t know and haven’t really made up our mind.”
There is no doubt that who receives Kuminga’s services will be very fortunate, no matter if that is in 2020 or 2021. He is considering Texas Tech, Auburn, Kentucky, Duke, and the G-League route. It seems that the G-League/pro route is most likely, as the crystal ball predictions sit at 100% for him going pro.
If Kuminga does attend a college, Texas Tech looks like the clubhouse leader, thanks in large part to his brother already being there. Kentucky is viewed as a major longshot if Kuminga ultimately becomes a Class of 2020 recruit.
