Another day, another big-time accolade for incoming Kentucky Basketball freshman, BJ Boston.
On Thursday, Boston was named California’s Basketball Player of the Year and Athlete of the Year. Two fantastic honors and it adds to a list of achievements and recognition Boston has had for his play on the court.
3-time NBA Champion Stephen Curry announced the Basketball Player of the Year Award, while recent Super Bowl Champion Patrick Mahomes announced the Athlete of the Year. Check out the video below that Boston’s father posted.

California is full of fantastic athletes and immense talent on the basketball court, so to see Boston take both of these awards home is special.
Boston also took home Gold Coast League MVP and CIF Open Division Player of the Year to go with being selected to the Jordan Brand Classic, McDonald’s All-American Game and Iverson Classic.
Boston averaged 19.7 PPG and 7 RPG in his senior on a stacked Sierra Canyon Trailblazers team. He’s ranked 4th overall in the country by 247, making him the highest-ranked recruit Kentucky has had since Skal Labissiere (2nd in 2015).
Expect great things from Boston this season as he is sure to be a big part of the offense. He is currently projected to be a top-10 pick in next year’s NBA Draft as well.
