A Miami judge has denied former Duke star Zion Williamson’s request for a protective order from answering questions about whether or not he was paid to play ball at Duke, per ESPN.
Now, Zion must answer those questions under oath.
Williamson’s legal team attempted to file the protective order last week, arguing that the inquiry itself was invasive and irrelevant.
Zion’s former agent, Gina Ford, is suing him for breach of contract and claiming that he received impermissible benefits to play at Duke. Ford also wants Williamson’s mother and step-father to answer questions about the house they lived in, in Durham, along with money and a potential car that he may have received while at Duke.
Zion and his legal team are expected to appeal the decision, but if today’s ruling stands, he will have to answer those questions and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski may even be deposed in the lawsuit.
Trouble brewing in Durham?
