J.J. Weaver’s father murdered in Georgia

Three suspects have been arrested, while one is still at large.

JJ Weaver

The father of University of Kentucky linebacker J.J. Weaver was murdered in Georgia early Wednesday morning, a UK spokesman confirmed Thursday. WFXL FOX 51 originally broke the news.

According to the report, three people have been arrested and one is being sought in connection to the shooting death of 44-year-old Terrance Weaver and injury to 39-year-old Arielle Bertram Wednesday morning on West Gordon Avenue in Albany, Georgia. Police say that Weaver passed away at the scene before medical personnel arrived.

J.J. Weaver, who was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2019 out of Louisville's Moore Traditional School, redshirted during the 2019 season but did appear in three games and recorded six tackles, five of which came in Kentucky’s road win over Vanderbilt. The 6-5, 244-pound defender is projected to be a backup behind Jordan Wright at outside linebacker this coming season.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Weaver and his family.
