Will DeAndre Williams pick Kentucky?

Could he be the final piece to the puzzle?

Kentucky’s 2020-2021 basketball roster is just about complete. With the addition of Olivier Sarr, the roster is now well-rounded and looks like a group that can compete from early in the season and make a run in March.

But it seems like they are looking to add one more piece. Could Evansville’s DeAndre Williams be that guy?

Williams is a 6-9 forward that has guard skills and could contribute to Kentucky in a number of ways. He handles the ball well, can crash the boards, and shot 45.5% from behind the three-point line last season.

I do not see him in a starting role next season, with his primary contributions coming at the forward positions. I feel like BJ Boston and Keion Brooks will be the guys there. But he can absolutely step in for either of those two, and possible step in for Terrence Clarke and let Boston move to a guard spot if the need arises.

Kentucky’s roster for next season, right now, looks like this:

Guards:

  • Davion Mintz
  • Devin Askew
  • Terrence Clarke

Wings:

  • BJ Boston
  • Dontaie Allen
  • Cam’Ron Fletcher

Bigs

  • Keion Brooks
  • Isaiah Jackson
  • Lance Ware

Seeking Eligibility:

  • Jacob Toppin
  • Olivier Sarr

Williams is a guy that could add depth and experience and fit into several lineup combinations for Kentucky next season. John Calipari is competing with Arkansas, Baylor, and Memphis to land his services. And no matter where Williams goes, he will have to apply for an eligibility waiver.

But with a decision coming in the next few days, the big question is: will DeAndre Williams pick Kentucky?
