The Kentucky Wildcats are no longer in the mix for Miami-Ohio transfer Nike Sibande.
Despite recent contact between the two sides, Sibande’s newest list does not include UK. Sibande told 247 Sports his finalists were Alabama, Arkansas, Georgetown, Georgia and Xavier, so there’s a chance UK will face him in the SEC next season.
This past season, the 6-4, 183-pound Sibande averaged 13.9 points (44% shooting), 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 28.8 minutes per game. His final game was a 31-point outing (10/14 shooting) to go with six boards in a win over Buffalo in the MAC Tournament. He averaged 16.1 points (39.4% shooting), 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists the previous season.
For now, Sibande would be a traditional transfer that must sit out next season, and UK is pretty stacked in the backcourt with Davion Mintz, Devin Askew, Terrence Clarke, Brandon Boston and Dontaie Allen. While experience is lacking, UK never made sense for Sibande, as they’re in desperate need of frontcourt bodies with three scholarships remaining.
Moving on.
