Johnny Juzang has found his next college home.
On Thursday, Juzang decided that the UCLA Bruins will be his next college destination.
“First, I really like coach [Mick] Cronin and the direction the program is going in,” Juzang told 247 Sports. “I think it’s a good fit for me. On top of that, I’m 10-15 minutes from Westwood. Playing for UCLA is something that has always excited me and now more than ever I really want to compete for a championship for UCLA, that’s something that fires me up.”
A former five-star recruit, Juzang committed to UK in the summer of 2019 over the likes of Kansas and Villanova. After a rough start to his first year with the Wildcats, Juzang really picked it up down the stretch and looked to be prepared for a bigger role next season.
Still, the Los Angeles native elected to transfer and is now going back home to finish out his college career.
Now, UK may end up facing Juzang next season with the Wildcats and Bruins set to face off in the CBS Sports Classic if it’s renewed. He will apply for an immediate eligibility waiver, but there’s still a chance the NCAA passes the one-time transfer rule for next season.
Personally, I’m happy for Johnny. He gets to go back home and play in front of friends and family at a program that will still keep him in the national spotlight. Hopefully, he lives up to the potential we saw flashes of during his brief time in Lexington.
